Receiving Dry Ice Safely: A Guide for Consumers

At Frozen Delivered, we prioritize your safety when handling our products, including packages containing dry ice. Here are some essential guidelines for receiving and handling shipments with minimal remaining dry ice.

When you receive a package containing dry ice, follow these steps:

1. Unboxing Your Shipment:

  • Minimal Residue: Our shipments are designed to have minimal dry ice remaining upon arrival. You may notice a small amount, which is perfectly normal.
  • Glove Usage: While handling the package, wearing insulated gloves or using a cloth is recommended. Although there's minimal dry ice, it's always best to err on the side of caution.

2. Handling Dry Ice:

  • Avoid Consumption: Dry ice is not for consumption. It's used for cooling and shipping purposes only.
  • Ventilation Not Required: Due to the small amount of remaining dry ice, extensive ventilation is not necessary. Our packaging is designed to allow safe sublimation without the need for additional ventilation.

3. Disposal:

  • Natural Sublimation: Place the package in an open area and let the remaining dry ice sublimate naturally. There's no need for special disposal methods due to the minimal quantity.
  • Avoid Confined Spaces: Even though there's little dry ice left, avoid storing it in tightly sealed containers to allow for the dissipation of any carbon dioxide gas.

4. Safety with Children and Pets:

  • Supervision: Keep packages out of reach of children and pets, although the minimal dry ice residue poses a low risk.
  • Educate: Educate family members about the nature of dry ice and its safe handling procedures, emphasizing the small quantity left in the package.

5. Emergency Situations:

  • Skin Contact: If you accidentally touch the small amount of dry ice residue, rinse the affected area with lukewarm water. Seek medical attention only if you experience persistent discomfort.
  • Inhalation: While the risk is minimal, move to a well-ventilated area if you inhale excessive carbon dioxide gas. Seek medical assistance if you feel unwell. By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure the safe handling and disposal of the minimal dry ice residue found in your package.
